The short version: the tools run on your device, and what you measure or type stays there.
The microphone
The sound level meter asks for the microphone only when you press Start meter, and only after your browser shows its permission prompt. The audio is analysed in your browser a block at a time to calculate levels. No audio is recorded, saved or uploaded, and each block is discarded once its level is measured. Pressing Stop meter, or leaving the page, releases the microphone. The site's server headers only allow this site itself to request the microphone.
What you type
Levels, durations and labels in the calculators are processed in your browser. Copy and download buttons work locally: the CSV and WAV files are created on your device.
Local storage
The tools remember your settings, such as the colour theme, the meter's weighting and calibration offset, and your exposure rows, in your browser's local storage under keys starting with cityhum-. They never leave your device, and clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.
Analytics
The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies or cross-site tracking. It never receives what you type into the tools, what you measure, or any audio. The site does not use cookies, ads or trackers of its own, and it has no accounts.
Hosting
The pages are served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical details of each request, such as your IP address, to deliver the page and protect the site.
Links to other sites
Links to other websites, including CleanTempMail and WebTraceCheck, are ordinary links. Those sites have their own privacy policies.
